Old World Style

The client had a dream to build a home that might be mistaken for a period house that had been preserved. Bay window and full verandahs in a classical colonial package with the necessary double garage tucked further down the side to not overpower the old world style.
It's nice to be working with someone passionate about what they are building.

Modern Loft in the Hills of Kalamunda

Not every design makes it to the build stage but that doesn't mean the design process is a failure or unenjoyable.  I always felt this lovely loft home in the hills was the one that got away.  It would have been a wonderful home to live in.

Designed to take advantage of sweeping views over the city from it's high position in the Kalamunda hills, it would have enjoyed sweeping uninterupted views from most of the rooms in the house.

The home office makes a bold angular statement to the street approach, something the client wanted. The rear of the home a meanering solar pergola using rough telephone poles with the balcony deck of the loft living room overlooking the pool and beyond.

2 Storey Home

A solid well organised 2 storey home for a mature couple designed for a casual lifestyle.  A balcony at the rear overlooks a manmade lake and parkland.  The clients weren't after a palace or a showpiece, just a modest home that met their needs.  The living area gathers around a protected outdoor area for relaxing with views to the lake. The master suite also enjoys those views from upstairs. The double garage has extended space at the rear for the owner to engage his passion for a workshop area.

Grand Living

If you have the means you might as well enjoy it.  This home nestles in the waterfront property. It's wide frontage allows the additional 2nd double garage as the family has teenagers with their own vehicles.  The expansive living area opens onto the water at the end of the property where the boat is moored.

New home in old Inglewood.

A successful real estate consultant (who drove a new yellow beatle) wanted an executive family style home on a small lot in a new subdivision in an older established area. A balcony at the front simply for looks created a formal entrance to the home.
At the rear of the lot was a 4 metre high retaining wall overlooking a playing field so another balcony to take in the views was a must.   But views were available even from the ground floor so the rear of the ground floor was all living - dining - kitchen. Upstairs the master suite and casual private lounge shared the outlook.

When you have Room!

Here's my original concept sketch.

Designed for a builder, the large home enjoys space on the 4 acre property in Maida Vale.  A circular driveway also accesses his workshop and office.

A long verandah stretches to provide shade to the minor bedrooms.
The Entry door & sidelights feature leadlight panels.
An Alcove designed in the family area with built in display cabinets.

Dropped ceilings follow the shape of the octagonal well appointed kitchen
More dropped ceilings over the dining area echo the kitchen and enjoy a bay window that takes advantage of the large rear yard with swimming pool and gardens.
The ensuite is pure luxury and enjoys sweeping views of the rear yard.  Dual basins and full width mirror make the already large room spacious and enjoyable.
