Classic Style in Como

Designed to take advantage of a sloping site, the garage was stepped down with the games room over, the balcony still high enough to capture park views over the lower houses in front.  The entry featured a raised turret with arched window.  This made an interesting stair with a floor at each half flight.
A second large double garage at the rear sheltered an elevated swimming pool and entertaining area.
The rear of the house formed a U shaped courtyard resulting in a sheltered alfresco dining area directly outside the kitchen dining area.

Sweeping curves to the limestone retaining walls encircled and protected an existing Jacarandah tree that
created a picturesque outlook from the master bedroom.

The client took on the task of building their own home.  A true craftsman was employed to create a stunning random limestone fireplace in the main living room that looked through a high glazed wall out onto the rear alfresco area.  Building your own home is a mixture of challenge and reward and this home certainly was a successful project resulting in an elegant but practical, workable but interesting family home.

And the finished house now hides behind mature trees.
