Ode to Federation

Set in the established leafy suburb of Como, this large family home was built to take advantage of the slope, both to the side and the rear.  Extensive natural limestone retaining walls were used to landscape the rear slope into a elaborate entertainment garden but the side to side slope suggested a split level home with the main living area being single level and the garage with a huge games room being built below the bedrooms all being a half level difference.

The home was designed to echo the federation style of our early 1900's with bull-nosed verandah wrapping around and a balcony with 'George Cross' balustrading.
Zincalume roof with finial gables and exposed rafter tails against a red brick set the tone.  A beautiful glazed front door with side and high lights pay respect to a grand heritage of a bi-gone era.
These photo's taken around 2 decades later show the home has gracefully settled into it's surroundings with the trees & garden the owners carefully chose having matured.

The home boasts formal lounge & dining, a living area with large well appointed kitchen overlooking a casual dining and living areas which flow out to an outdoor spa area overlooking the rear yard and the elevated view. The rear the home forms two wings to create a central sheltered and private courtyard for outdoor dining and entertaining.

The upstairs master suite has the balcony access and it's ensuite has a spa bath.  3 other large bedrooms with large robes take up the rest of the upper floor. Downstairs a double garage flows to the lower stair well area and laundry and then to a large games room with it's own bathroom (it doubles as a granny flat / guest wing) that overlooks the rear yard.   Rear vehicle access is provided to a large double garage.  All up a wonderfully well appointed home with room to grow.
